Annie May's Bar/Restaurant was opened in 1981 by Paddy and Angela Hurley. It was originally only a bar and Paddy could often be heard singing 'Dear Old Skibbereen' or playing a tune on the melodeon. Angela always wanted to involve food in the business, as she worked in the hotel business up to 1981, and from 1989 Annie May's offered a full bar menu. When the property next door came up for auction, in 1993, the Hurley family bought the property. The ground floor was transformed into a beautiful restaurant and the first and second floors were turned into bedrooms.
